I have a 2002 Honda foreman rubicon 500 it shifts like normal for about first 10 minutes of ride time and then it starts flashing code 5 and stays in a low gear as it is flashing until I turn it off and crank it again. If I remember correctly, you should be able to take off the inner fender liner, and the radiator shroud without removing the front fenders. This will give you access to the plugs, but it will still be tight.
